Former Local 5086 President and Brattleboro Retreat RN, Danielle Perry, is now working with the UNAP in Rhode Island as a union organizer.  Danielle's responsibilities include organizing LPNs, Techs, and support staff at Fatima Hospital, where the UNAP already represents RNs, as well as Kent County Hospital, the second largest hospital in Rhode Island.  Danielle can be reached at 401-831-3647, extension 19.
 

Retreat Healthcare just completed a major reorganization of its inpatient programs.  A residential unit was closed,
 a new intensive adult program was created, and an existing program was split into latency and adolescent.

Union leaders Danielle Perry and Thomas Flood did an excellent job in protecting/improving staffing levels – working to add hours back where cuts were made, and assuring a greater mix of full-time positions.

The Retreat contract is the only UNAP contract that provides patient-to-staff ratios for each unit.  Because of this, it was imperative that the new and reorganized units continue to have patient-to-staff ratios.  The Union achieved this goal and, in some cases, improved the ratios.
